The SDSU Department of Astronomy is sad to report the passing of Clarence (Ted) Daub, Jr. on Oct. 1, 2022.

Ted taught in the department between 1967 and 2004, served as department chair between 1984 and 1988 and was associate chair from 1988 to 2000. But more importantly, he is very fondly remembered for his dedication to students and deep commitment to the profession of teaching. He kept students scientifically nourished and literally fed – like dinners at his house after a long semester in his senior and graduate astrophysics classes.

Ted retained his curiosity, his warmth, and his optimism through his entire life.  Those of us who had the pleasure to learn from him, to work with him or even just talk with him remember those qualities.

We would love to hear from you if you have SDSU memories of Ted that you’d like to share.
