Several members of our Astronomy Department have recent accomplishments worthy of celebration.
Graduate student Alex Dimoff will be moving to Germany to start a PhD program at the Max Planck Institute for Astronomy and Technical University Darmstadt. He will be studying stellar evolution and nucleosynthesis with Dr. Camilla J. Hansen.
Earlier this year, Dr. Jerry Orosz published a paper in Science about redetermining the mass of the first-discovered black hole and graduate student Josiah Purdum was the first author on a paper about an episodically-outbursting asteroid.
Dr. Bill Welsh was quoted in The New York Times about what might be the first planet found orbiting three stars at once.
